Mercedes M-Class
The Mercedes M-Class is a stunning piece of craftmanship, in our opinion one of the best looking 4x4's on the road today.
The older style M-Class was a bit basic until the facelift in 2002 when Mercedes greatly improved the interior. Then came the ML major re-style, a much sleeker sporty look and a new set of engines to chose from including 8 diesels.
The new Mercedes ML-Class does not seem to have been tested by Euro NCAP but the older model has been test from 2002 when it scored 4 Stars.

Could do better
I own a Mercedes ML270 on a 02 plate and have very few complaints about the performance. It handles the road well, never lacks in power and does an average of 34mpg.
However it did brake down due to the earth strap snapping in half. Since this is not a cheap vehicle and you'd expect a bit more reliability than that. Maybe I was just unlucky, I'd be interested to know if anyone else has had this problem.

The Cream of 4x4's
I have a 2007 Mercedes ML and I have no complaints what so ever. It is a vast improvement upon the older more "box like" ML and the drive is second to none.
I have the diesel model so it does great miles to the tank compared to most 4x4's. It also is a dream inside with beautiful leather seats and a strong driving position. I would recommend it to anyone who wants that little bit of luxury.
